Women’s National Team Staff Positions available

Canada’s National Women’s Team is searching for Volunteers to fill the following positions:

The Team will compete at the 2009 Women’s World Floorball Championships in Vasteras, Sweden December 5-12, 2009. All team
volunteer positions are expected to cover the costs of their transportation and accommodation for the duration of the Championships.

Team Ontario Gold and Silver Medals at National Championships

At the recent National Floorball Championships held at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, BC, Team Ontario’s Women defended their Gold Medal performance, while the Men lost a heartbreaking final 4-3 to BC to capture the Silver Medal.  For complete details click here.

Women’s National Team Open Tryout

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009
Floorball Canada will be holding an open tryout for the Women’s National Team on May 18th from 11am-3pm at the Tait MacKenzie Centre at York University.  Click here for directions. 
 
The organizers of the Canada Cup Floorball Championships have gratiously made the gym space and equipment available at no cost, but have requested assistance from each of the tryout attendees to help with the take down efforts after the tryout.
 
The tryout is open to women who are Canadian citizens and will be at least 16 years old by December 31st, 2009.  This tryout is open to women from across Canada who are interested in being considered for the National Team that will be competing at the Women’s World Floorball Championships “B” Division from December 5th-12th, 2009 in Vasteras, Sweden. 
 
The tryout includes a shooting school session with World-famous Floorball shooting guru Patrik Lönell at 11am.  For more details on the shooting school, please visit http://salmingacademy.eventbrite.com .  The cost for the shooting school portion of the tryout is $10 per person.  We strongly recommend that all field players attend this unique opportunity to learn from one of the top Floorball instructors in the world. 
 
Official registration and selection criteria details will be provided at this tryout and will be made available on the Floorball Canada website following the tryout.  Depending on the interest levels, individual Provincial tryouts will be organized by the Provincial Federations.  For more details about dates and times for the Provincial tryouts, please contact your Federation.  All players selected to the National Team must be registered members of their Provincial Federation and are expected to cover their costs of attending the World Championships.
 
We hope see as many of the Canadian Team hopefuls as possible there.

Canadian National Floorball Championships April 17-19, 2009 at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, BC

Ontario will be sending it’s best Men’s team ever to face BC, Alberta and Quebec and hope to bring home the title after a dissapointing 3rd place finish last year.  Our Women’s team are looking to defend their title from 2yrs ago as they face Quebec and BC.  Here are the rosters for Team Ontario.

Registration now open for Canada Cup 2009

The Canada Cup is North America´s biggest floorball tournament. It takes place in Toronto from Friday 15th May to Sunday 17th May 2009. Last year the tournament gathered 39 teams and 600 players from all around the world. This year the organizer is expecting 50 teams to participate in the Canada Cup 2009.

The clubs can register for the following divisions:

  • Adult Elite (10 teams, played on 15th - 17th May) for European and competitive North American teams
  • Adult Intermediate (14 teams, 16th - 17th May) for semi-competitive teams
  • Adult Recreational (6 teams, 16th May) for teams new to competitive floorball
  • Adult Ladies (6 teams, 17th May) for women´s teams of all levels
  • High School (10 teams, 15th May) for high school teams
  • Bantam (6 teams, 17th May) for players born 1994 - 1995
  • Atom & Peewee (8 teams, 16th May) for players born 1996 - 1999

Canada and India to play exhibition match during National Championships

Floorball Canada has confirmed that they will host an exhibition match against the Indian National Floorball Team in April.On April 17th, at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, British Columbia Canada, India’s Men’s National Team will play in a match against the Canadian Men’s National Team.

Canada’s team will be selected from among returning players to the National Team program, as well as some up and coming players who will be competing for positions for next year’s National Team.

The match will be held alongside the Canadian National Floorball Championships from April 17th-19th, which will consist of 4 Provincial Men’s teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, and 3 Women’s teams from British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.


Team Canada was placed 3rd in the WFC C-division 2008

The Indian National Team will also play practice games against each of the Provincial Men’s Team entries competing at the National Championships.

Battle of Team Ontario Prospects - The Men vs the Boys

As part of the Innaugural Toronto Cup, Saturday, January 10th at the Hangar at Downsview Park in Toronto, the Team Ontario Men’s Prospects will be playing an Exhibition Game against the Ontario Representatives for Canada’s Men’s U19 Team as both teams begin their preparations for their respective Championships. Game Time is scheduled for 11:45am.

Team Ontario will be participating in the Canadian National Championships in Richmind, BC from April 17-19th, 2009, while the Canadian U19 Team will be making their debut at the World U19 Floorball Championships in Turku and Raisio, Finland from May 6-10th, 2009.

The following players have been selected to represent Ontario during this exhibition match.  The final selections for the team will be announced in early March.

Toronto’s Floorball Summer League

Grassroots Floorball Inc. and the Toronto Floorball League are excited to announce Toronto’s first-ever summer floorball league. Experience floorball, the off-ice sport of choice for NHLers like Marian Hossa, Mats Sundin, Marian Gaborik and played by future stars like John Tavares and John McFarland.

Make your own team or join an existing one to take on some of Toronto’s best teams like the Viking Escapades, The Northern European Express, iMove Blue Collars and more. Don’t miss the floorball debut of the Toronto Marlies’ leading scorer David Ling as he suits up for the Vikings and according to some rumors, even John Tavares may join the team for a game or two!

  • League starts July 3rd and runs until September 4th
  • 45-minute games Thursday nights at 8:15, 9:30 or 10:30 PM
  • Six game regular season and two playoff games for each team
  • Convenient Humber Lakeshore Campus location
  • Free parking, TTC (Bus, Streetcar & Subway) or Go Train access
  • Official floorball boards, two paid referees per game, a paid convener, live scoreboard and full results and statistics posted online the day after your game

    Team Canada Off to World Championships

    By the time most people are getting up for work on April 18th, most of Canada’s Men’s National Team will be arriving in Bratislava, Slovakia for the 2008 Men’s World ‘C’ Division Floorball Championships.

     Canada doesn’t wait long once they arrive, by jumping right into their first exhibition game against the Slovak National Team at 9:00am local time on Saturday morning, and following that up with the Slovakian Club Champions Hurikan Bratislava on Sunday afternoon.

    The real test begins on Monday, April 21 at 2:00pm local time against France.  Tuesday, they take on Liechtenstein, and finish the round-robin portion on Thursday afternoon against the Aussies.  Playoffs are Saturday and the Finals will be played on Sunday, April 27th.
