Get $800 to Introduce Floorball at Your School - 2009-10 OFSAA Try-Day Funding Available

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Are you interested in introducing floorball to your school but have held back due to budgetary concerns? The OFSAA Try Day Grant is Back!  Seize the opportunity to enrich your school sport program with new and non-traditional activities like floorball by receiving financial support thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The OFSAA Try Day program gives schools the opportunity to access funds so they may introduce a new or non-traditional sport like floorball to their students. OFSAA is once again providing funding of up to $800 for 140 schools to hold a Try Day for their students in 2008-09. This is an excellent opportunity to boost your school activity program, as well as get your students involved!

Please note: Funding will be provided to a limited number of schools on a first-come, first-serve basis so we suggest you apply now!

The grant allows you to introduce secondary school students to floorball through a one-day activity, intramural event or clinic. Floorball must not have been available to students in the past. Funds can be used to purchase equipment, instructors, travel, facility rental, transportation and/or other resource materials.

Take this opportunity to . . .

- Purchase equipment to make floorball part of your school’s physical education curriculum

- Host a floorball clinic at your school for students and staff

 - Start a floorball intramural program for your students with the help of the OFUF

 - Participate in the 3rd annual High School Floorball Invitation sanctioned by OFSAA

Enrich your school sport program AND receive financial support of $800.

Fenelon Falls Finds Floorball

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Once again, thanks to the OFSAA Try-Day program, another school has embraced Floorball.  Read the following article from the Lindsay Post.  http://www.thepost.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1441497

The OFUF also recently introduced Floorball to the other 2 High Schools in the Lindsay area - IE Weldon and Lindsay CVI.  It appears that there is a new hub for Floorball in Ontario.  We look forward to hearing more news from the intramurals and possibly some inter-school matches.

Floorball Catches on in the Soo

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

This past October, the Floorball Ontario traveled up to Sault Ste Marie to St. Mary’s College for one of the Salming Road Show floorball clinics.  After spending the day introducing floorball to the Phys Ed classes at the school, it seems to have caught on quite nicely as evidenced from this recent article in the Sault Ste Marie News.

Congrats to “The Gongshow” for their victory and we look forward to hearing more from these up and coming players.
