IFF Development Seminar Lands in Canada

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

The first-ever International Floorball Federation Development Seminar to take place in North America got off to a great start in Toronto today.

The Seminar focuses on “training the trainer”, teaching North America’s floorball leaders the skills necessary to go back and train their own local groups in floorball administration, refereeing and coaching. The Seminar finishes on Thursday.

Seminar #1

The Seminar is hosted by top officials from the International Floorball Federation and has attracted a who’s who of North American floorball, including representatives from the United States Floorball Association, the Canadian Unihockey Floorball Federation, the BC Floorball Federation, the Quebec Floorball Association and the Ontario Floorball/Unihockey Federation as well as many representatives of clubs and schools.

The day’s program included a history of floorball and the IFF, an overview of some of IFF’s processes and a discussion about sports leadership in general before the participants broke off into smaller groups to tackle the individuals’ stream of choice. The days’ activities were concluded by a fun - but very competitive - floorball game amongst the seminar participants that took place at Humber College.

IFF Seminar #2

Of course, a day full of floorball fun takes a toll so some of the guys decided to end the day with a pleasant night cap at the bar!
